BHASTRIKA 
Sit in comfortable position and breathe in through both nostrils till lungs are full and diaphragm is stretched  and be careful abdominal cavity does not blow up due to inhalation and then exhale or breathe out also. Depending upon capacity, age and health of individual, this Pranayam can be done in three variable speeds viz. slow, medium and high speed. People with weak lungs, high blood pressure or old age should do it at a slow speed during inhalation (purak) and exhalation
(rechak) .A healthy person should do it in beginning at slow speed and then gradually can increase speed to moderate and then high also according to his or her health or  comfort level .
   In this pranayam we breathe as long and deep as possible with medium speed so that we can take maximum oxygen and pran urja or life energy and we can do this every day from 5 to 10 minutes.

Shiv Sankalp ( Vow ) during Bhastrika :

While inhaling make a vow and feel that all good and divine powers in the universe is entering inside your body and  you are inhaling freshness, aliveness, pran urja ( life energy)

PRECAUTION

1. Abdominal cavity does not blow up due to inhalation.

2. People with weak lungs, high blood pressure or old age should do it at a slow speed during inhalation (purak) and exhalation (rechak) because high speed can increase blood pressure

BENEFITS

Lungs becomes strong and respiratory diseases, asthma etc. are cured. Due to heart and head getting more pure and fresh air, health is improved.

Diseases of throat like thyroid, tonsils and other ailments of throat are cured.

This pranayam brings proper balance of three Doshas i.e Vata , Pitta and Kapha and maintains their balance. Blood is purified and body gets rid of toxins.
